In “Introducing Ashtanga” we’ll cover a variety of topics about what makes Ashtanga unique while delving into the primary series of Ashtanga Yoga in an accessible fashion. In this four hour workshop we’ll cover the following:
  • What is Ashtanga Yoga?

  • Features of Ashtanga Yoga

  • Surya Namaskar A&B, the six fundamental standing poses, and the finishing series.

  • Developing a Personal Practice

  • A definition of Ashtanga Yoga and how it fits into the overall view of different styles/techniques of yoga

  • How and when to practice Ashtanga (led and self)

  • Importance of safe practice

  • Physiological and psychological effects of Ashtanga Yoga

  • How the Eight Limbs (YS 2.29) play part in the practice of Ashtanga
