SUP YOGA

Experience our floating yoga studio

What is SUP Yoga?

Performed on stand-up paddle boards floating on the clear blue ocean, this class is the perfect peak for your island adventure! We meet on the beach for an introduction to our floating yoga studio, and together we walk out to our SUP boards that are pre-anchored to stay stable in the wind and waves. Your certified SUP Yoga teacher will guide you through a practice that starts slowly, letting you get used to the floating surface. You will then move into a more dynamic flow before slowing down to cool off with restorative postures and the greatest Savasana you’ve ever experienced (truly!). Sky above you, sea below you, surrounded by nature, sun and salt… What could be more blissful?

Please note, each person must sign up individually with their own name and email address for this class type. All ages welcome. We meet on the beach between the Ritz Carlton and the Fisherman’s Huts. Please be sure to arrive 15 minutes early.

FAQs

What can I expect?

You can expect a one-hour board rental and guided yoga class by a certified SUP yoga teacher. Other than that, we encourage you to release all other expectations or anticipations and simply show up to enjoy yourself and this beautiful experience!

What do I wear?

We suggest wearing a comfortable bathing suit that you will feel supported in while practicing SUP yoga. A great rule of thumb is to practice a Sun Salutation in your outfit of choice to ensure all body parts stay put when moving 🙂 Other options are swim shirts, shorts, or whatever you feel comfortable wearing to protect you from the sun. If you wish to wear a hat or sunglasses, please make sure they will stay snug and secure in Aruba’s high winds. You will be facing away from the sun throughout the class, so you don’t need to worry about looking into it.

What do I bring?

Please be sure to bring a full water bottle and *eco/reef-friendly* sunscreen. Please limit the valuables you bring with you to the beach as we DO NOT have a physical location there.

Where is it located?

We meet in Palm Beach between the Fisherman’s huts and the Ritz Carlton hotel by the small wooden bridge that leads to the beach. You will see our beautiful turquoise Boga Yoga boards set up in the water; we are the only paddleboard company with these particular boards.

Please give yourself an extra 15 minutes to find us, sign in, and get ready.

Can beginners join?

Absolutely. We teach a slow all-levels Vinyasa flow with modifications to cater to each personal ability.

What if I'm not a strong swimmer?

No problem! The water is about waist deep, so you can walk all the way to your board and around it. Additionally, all of our SUP yoga teachers are certified by the World Paddle Association (WPA) in water safety education and CPR.

I have more questions.

We are here to answer all questions to the best of our ability. Please email sup@islandyoga.com with any additional questions!
