FAQ

What do the different room options mean?

The Shared Room is for anyone who is open to sharing a bedroom and bathroom with one other person. You each have your own bed. If you are traveling solo, you are welcome to book this option; many other solo travelers book this option, too. You are not responsible for securing the bookings for the other 3 spots in the unit. If you are traveling with people and you all want to book this option, please let us know so we can assure you’re all placed in the same unit. This option is $2,050 USD per person.

The Private Room is for two people who are traveling together and want a private space. You are not paired with someone you don’t know if you book this spot. If you want a private room but are traveling solo, you would select the Single Room option. This option is $2,100 USD per person.

The Single Room is for ONE person only. If you want to share the room with a family member or friend, you would select the Private Room option.

Who will be teaching what?

Rachel and Dennis teach each yoga and meditation class. Our resident SUP instructors will guide you through the SUP yoga class.

How many people will be attending this retreat?

We wish we could hold space for each one of you at once! Since our Luna Shala can only fit so many bodies and mats, we hold up to 52 people per retreat. Our awesome Island Yoga team takes care of the details so that Rachel can devote her whole presence to the daily practices and time spent with you.

What if I have special circumstances?

If you have a special circumstance, please describe in an email to experience@islandyoga.com.

Should I fly in the day before the retreat begins and depart the day after it ends? When exactly does the retreat start and end?
  • The retreat kicks off with welcome circle, yoga, and dinner the first evening. It wraps up late morning on the final day after closing circle, yoga, and breakfast. If you are able to secure flights that allow you to be present for all activities – wonderful!
  • If you would like to get the most out of your flights and enjoy more days on the island, go for it! We just ask that you secure your additional nights with Costa Esmeralda directly, or wherever else you decide to stay. We will also only be able to offer the airport shuttle service on our set start and end dates, but the hotel can happily assist you in getting a taxi.
  • If you are flying back to the US, you will go through customs in Aruba before boarding instead of once you land Stateside. So, it’s recommended to allot 2.5-3 hours at the airport before your departure time.
Will I have time to relax and explore the island during the retreat?

Yes! We set aside ample free time each day for you to go to the beach, hang by the pool, nap…whatever you are seeking to give to yourself during this week!

You will be within a 20-30 minute walk to the beach and shopping. We will also provide a shuttle to and from the beach once per day.

Do I need to rent a car?

We will provide shuttle service to and from the airport, as well as between Island Yoga and your hotel. If you choose to extend your stay, then you may want to consider renting a car. Please note that we will only be able to offer airport shuttles on our set start and end dates.

What kind of food is served? What if I have specific dietary needs?

Our onsite Nourish Cafe will be serving fresh, vegetarian breakfasts each morning, as well as a welcome dinner and farewell dinner. The kitchen houses gluten, nut, and soy products. If there are specific foods that you must avoid, the cafe will do their absolute best to keep your foods separate from the foods of concern and supplement however else possible. We will send you an intake form to ask for such details as the retreat draws nearer.

For the meals that are not included, Nourish Cafe will be open for ordering. We will also provide you with a list of recommendations nearby.

If you have any severe allergies, it is highly recommended to travel with an EpiPen and to inform our team.

What if I'm not an advanced practitioner? Can I still join?

Absolutely! Each instructor teaches to the students present, providing modifications for every varied level.

Are there payment plans available?

You will need to pay at least the 500 USD deposit (non-refundable) in order to reserve your spot. Then, you will have until 45 days before the retreat begins to submit the remaining amount. The payment plan does not extend past this 45-day benchmark.

Will I need to bring my own yoga mat and props?

It is recommended to bring your own mat. If you do not bring your own, we will have mats and props available in the boutique for you to rent or buy.

I want to room with a friend. Is this possible?

Yes! Please email us at experience@islandyoga.com to inform us of the first and last name of the person you wish to share a room with.

Will I need a Visa to enter Aruba?

Most tourists can travel to Aruba for up to 30 days without any special permissions or Visas. However, we ask you to please consult this link to see if your country of residence is one that does require special documents.

Do I need to worry about Zika?

Zika cases have been recorded in Aruba, like so many islands and tropical regions, since 2015. However, the amount of confirmed cases are relatively insignificant in number. There are zero recorded cases of pregnant women contracting Zika in Aruba. As long as you wear bug repellant in the evenings and are not pregnant or trying to become pregnant, you will not need to worry. Island Yoga maintains mosquito-free temperatures at all times indoors, and we utilize citronella coils in the outdoor bar area in the evenings. It’s best to pack your own bug repellant and keep it with you for evenings, just in case.
