Rachel Brathen

Rachel Brathen

Swedish native Rachel Brathen is a New York Times best-selling author, serial entrepreneur, and international yoga teacher residing in Aruba. After graduating school in Stockholm, she traveled to Costa Rica. It was here that she found the joy of incorporating yoga into her everyday life. Deepening her yoga practice and also taking her first steps toward teaching, she ended up moving to Central America where she spent years exploring the intricate studies of yoga and spirituality. After moving to Aruba early 2010, she started teaching yoga full time on this Caribbean island.
Her classes are a dynamic Vinyasa Flow, integrating alignment, core work, and breathing techniques with basic poses and creative sequencing.

With over two million followers in social media, Rachel shares pieces of her life with the world every day and constantly travels the globe to connect with her community.

Dennis Schoneveld

Dennis Schoneveld

Raised on the Caribbean island of Aruba, Dennis grew up with a natural draw to water and watersports. He learned how to windsurf at age nine and immersed himself completely in the sport, leading him to competing at a young age. In his teens, he transitioned toward wave surfing and skateboarding, later on taking up beach tennis and traveling across the world to compete.

After going to college for business administration and managing a surf shop for many years, Dennis opened his own business. Salad Skate Shop, located in the heart of Aruba’s capital Oranjestad, was his first venture, which he managed (together with his business partner at the time) with the intention to revive the culture of skateboarding on the island and provide a safe place for teenagers to enjoy after school. Meeting Rachel in 2010, he started taking his first few steps toward learning about the ancient practice of yoga and how it could benefit the body. But it wasn’t until finding teachers of his own that he dove deep into the practice.
Now a certified yoga instructor and avid practitioner, Dennis and Rachel lead retreats all over the world.

Carolien Gaarthuis

Carolien Gaarthuis

Carolien’s first encounter with yoga was in 2005, and she was thrilled with its physical and mental benefits. Being a martial arts practitioner, the meditation and breathing techniques of yoga strongly resonated with her. On January 1st of 2012, after having completed 108 sun salutations guided by Rachel Brathen, Carolien set an intention to practice yoga every day for one year. She has been practicing daily ever since.

Carolien’s sensei is Paul Grilley, and she has trained with international acclaimed master teachers like Rachel Brathen, Fred Busch, and Jessica and Ryan Taylor. Her teaching reflects both Yin and Yang elements from each teachers’ philosophies and her own inner wisdom. In 2016, she developed TerraWave Yoga: a playful blend of Yin/Yang sequencing on an Indo YogaFit® Balance Board; a unique way to practice finding balance, strength and peace of mind.

Brittany Waterhouse

Brittany Waterhouse

Brittany began practicing yoga with her grandmother while in high school. She is a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200 instructor who completed her teacher training at Prana Power Yoga in Woburn, Massachusetts. Brittany fell in love with yoga and became certified to teach so she could share her experience with the world.
She aims to inspire her students to feel light, alive, aligned and present – each an element that the practice has taught her. Brittany began visiting Aruba with her family when she was a teenager, and she is now our main SUP Yoga teacher on the island.

Ambre Van de Berg

Ambre Van de Berg

Ambre is a well-versed teacher who has spent many years gaining accreditations and skills in areas of the mind, body, and soul. She leads classes in Vinyasa, Yin/Yang and SUP Yoga - where she feels most at home. As she journeys through the elements of the natural environment, using a combination of music and movement to still the mind, her classes are a direct reflection of who she is.

She is a nutritional detox coach with a passion for food as a means to enliven and heal one’s life. Her extensive background in teaching a variety of sports as a certified fitness teacher, combined with her knowledge of meditation and yoga, brings forth a deep understanding of how to intuitively work with a broad range of needs.
She is the happiest when she sees the joy that this work brings to her students.

Jess Rydh

Jess Rydh

Jess was born and raised in Sweden. Having practiced yoga since she was 15, she was instantly hooked and quickly became a certified yoga teacher at age 17. She has taken trainings under Baron Baptiste, Brooke Hamblet, Paige Elenson (founder of Africa Yoga Project), as well as mentored under Angela Bryant over the last five years, learning invaluable leadership skills and communication tools that translate beautifully into her teaching.

Her passion lies in spreading joy, as each student can feel in her classes. You can expect a fresh, fun yoga practice that will move your body and soul and leave you smiling in renewed vibrance.

Dagmara Avanindra

Dagmara Avanindra

Dagmara discovered yoga after giving birth to her amazing daughter, when gym workouts no longer served her changed body. Her limbs felt less stable and her core felt weak and wounded from childbirth complications. Practicing on her yoga mat, guided by incredible teachers, she was provided with a place where she could rebuild and enhance her physical abilities in ways that suited her new reality. Dagmara came to yoga to become stronger and more flexible; she stayed with yoga for the peace of mind, enhanced grounding, connectedness, clarity, and new-found courage. Yoga stayed as her True North and guided her through turbulent times. Today, Dagmara wants to share yoga with others in a way that is accessible to all for whatever reason they come to practice – to lose weight, gain flexibility, get healthier – so that they can discover their other countless, beautiful layers that yoga reveals. Her goal is to help her students build a strong core and develop flexibility – both on physical and spiritual planes.
